Alpha Omar Jallow has been sentenced to a one-year six-month jail for stealing after pleaded guilty to the charge.
He appeared before Magistrate Colley of the Kanifing Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutor disclosed to the court that the matter happened on the 19th October 2021 at Westfield when the complainant, Muhammed was at his work place where he fell asleep. According to the prosecutor when he fell asleep that’s time the accused entered into the room of the complaint and took a red bag contained properties of the complainant.
He said the complainant reported the matter to Kanifing Police Station and police did their investigation about the matter. The complainant, he said, saw the accused with his materials and he confronted him and asked him where he got those things and this question led to push and pull between them. It was at that juncture the accused was arrested and brought to Kanifing Police Station where his statement was taken.
The accused, Omar Jallow however asked the court for mercy and that he will not repeat it again. He said he was drunk and didn’t know that there was a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant.
According to his particulars of offense, Alpha Omar Jallow did on the 19th October 2021 at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipality stole from a dwelling house of Muhammed Sundifa the following items one red bag valued at D1500, cash amount of D4,500 , clothes valued at D250,Ten Sierra Leone an football jersey shirt valued as D1,900, one Gambian residential permit of 2021valued at (one million Leone) equivalent to D500 one mobile phone mark Techno valued at D 38,800 (thirty eight thousand, eight hundred dalasis all properties of Muhammed Sundifu.
