Lamin Fofana, a resident of Brikama Jalambang, has blamed health workers at Brikama Health Centre for his mother’s death.
Speaking to The Voice, he alleged that due to the negligence of the health workers, his mother died while giving birth after she lost lots of blood.
“I asked about the reason for the operation and how it took place, what I was told by a doctor is when the operation failed my mom died because she has Diabetes, but there was check conducted on my mom to confirm either she has any sickness before conducting operation on her,” he said.
“I think before conducting an operation on any patient, when the blood pressure is high you don’t conduct an operation. Because if the pressure is high and you conduct an operation it will automatically fails. I asked Doctor Kanteh about the Doctor who conducted the operation on my mother but he told me he was not the one who conducted the operation but one of his partners which he doesn’t want to reveal his name to me,” he explained.
According to him, the Brikama Health Centre lacks equipment for operation, adding “when we got to the hospital at 11am we were told that she should be referred to Banjul and the Ambulance driver was not at the hospital at that time, we were kept at Brikama until after the Friday prayer that was when I went back to Dr. Kanteh and asked him to call the Driver.”
He further narrated that the driver shown up at around 5pm saying it was so shocking to him. However he disclosed that he earlier told the Doctor to let them arrange for a vehicle to take them to Banjul but the hospital refused them of doing so “because the condition of the baby too is worst.” he added.
