Fortune FC held by Waa Banjul in GFF 1st Division League

 Defending league champions, Fortune FC was forced into a 1-1 draw by stubborn Waa Banjul, while strugglers Samger FC and Marimoo also shared the spoils after a barren goalless draw in the week-5 fixtures of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) 1st Division League played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Both week-5 fixtures in the First Division League played on Tuesday ended in a draw.

Petroleum boys, Fortune was held to a 1-1 draw by Waa Banjul in the late game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The last year’s league champions took the lead in the 8th minute of the game, before Ebou Camara leveled the game for Waa Banjul in the 45+10 minutes of the first period.

Both teams produced great chances in the second period but none of them were able to convert any of those, ending the game in a draw.

The draw has moved Waa Banjul top of the league standings on goal difference with 11 points, leveled with Wallidan, while Fortune FC sit 6th position with 8 points after five games.

Elsewhere, Marimoo FC was held to a goalless draw by Samger in the earlier kick off game at the Independence Stadium.

Both teams (Marimoo and Samger) were looking forward to win to strengthen their positions in the league as they are both currently struggling and sits at the rock-bottom-positions of the league.

Manjai-based team (Marimoo) is without a win, three draws and two defeats in five games, while Academy boys (Samger) is also without a  win, two draws and three defeats in five matches.

Marimoo still sit bottom-(13th)position with 3 points leveled with Elite United, while Samger occupy rock-bottom-(15th)-position with 2 points.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s games between Brikama United and Steve Biko as well as The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) against Elite United were postponed until today, Thursday 13th January 2022 at 6pm and 8pm respectively.
