It is unfortunate that amid of Coronavirus pandemic, thousands of people on streets, markets, different places and gathering totally ignored the coronavirus safety measures despite the emergence of the Omicron variant in the country.

Speaking to people about respecting the measures given by the World Health Organisation and The Gambia’s Ministry of Health, Saidou Jallow said, he always ensures that he prevent himself from the virus by following the preventive measures giving by the WHO.

“Gambians should be cautious because this is a pandemic that has affected not just only human beings but every activity especially the economic sector and in order to regain what has been lost during the peak of the pandemic people have to respect the guidelines giving by the WHO,” he advised people.

“Most Gambians still don’t believe the existence of this virus because they just heard it from people and they are not affected. But that should not be an excuse of them not to follow the preventive measures because the government is here for the people and ‘am sure they will not lie to us especially when it comes to our health issues,” he added.

Ebrima Kujabi also said: “The government doesn’t take these preventive measures seriously, as there is need to put a strict measure in place for the violator of the preventive measure.”

Ebrima therefore gave an excuse why many people are unwilling to take the vaccines by claiming that some who have taken it said they fell sick, a claim considered to be flimsy by some health officials.

Meanwhile, he advised people to believe the existence of the virus and prevent themselves from it by following the preventive measures as issued by the WHO and the Ministry of Health.

“The reason why many people are reluctant to be vaccinated is because some of those who took the vaccine are being sick for days which many believe are not a good sign,” he stated.

In order to make things easy and eradicate the virus, he reiterated that, people people should follow the advice from the Health Ministry.

“The ministry of health is taking all step to protect the people from having the virus so let’s listen to their advice and make things easy with them,” he said.
