Covid-19: Gambia cases is 11,572 with 347 total death

The latest Ministry of Health Covid-19 situation report since the confirmation of the first case in March 2020 has confirmed the Gambia cases to be 11,572 and the Covid-19 related deaths registered so far is 347 as a total of 450 new cases were registered.

According to the Ministry of Health Covid-19 number 417th national situation report “three (3) new Covid-19-related deaths registered, brings the total to 347 (crude case fatality ratio, 3.0%). Total of 450 new cases were registered (Cumulative cases 11,572). A total of 120, 76, 60, 98, and 98 cases were reported on the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.”

The report stated further that the test positivity rates is 20.5% (450/2,199), NPHL – 2,108 (414 positives) and MRCG-91 (36 positives); nine (9) case are currently on oxygen therapy; 306 cases were discharged after at least 10 days from the day they were tested positive but evaded institutional were discharged after at least 10days from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation and 6 from Covid-19 treatment centres.

Meanwhile, as of 11th January 2022, the following numbers of people have been vaccinated with: Johnson & Johnson:  Only 1 dose: 250,279; Sinopharm: Dose 1: 4,505, Dose 2: 3,323; AstraZeneca: Dose 1: 40,680, Dose 2: 28,560. Target population (based on micro planning estimates – 1,564,214). Proportion of target population fully vaccinated (2 doses of AZ/Sinopharm or 1 dose of J&J): 18.0% – proportion of target population that received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose (AZ or J&J or Sinopharm): 18.9%.  Total population (Based on final MoH population projections for 2021 – 2,438,899). Proportion of total population fully vaccinated (2 doses of AZ/Sinopharm or 1 dose of J&J): 11.6% o Proportion of total population that received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose (AZ or J&J or Sinopharm): 12.1%.
