As part of the Authority’s annual routine, The Management of Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) under the dynamic leadership of the Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe will host its 4th Mega edition of Taxpayers Awards ceremony in a grand style.
The Award ceremony will be held on Saturday, 29th January 2022 at the Kairaba Beach Hotel starting at 7.30 pm onward.
The Award ceremony will be coordinated by a special committee at the GRA and it will be headed by the Deputy Director Compliance and taxpayers Education Unit Matty Njie Senghore.
The Award ceremony is expected to be attended by over five hundred people from various sectors including cabinet Ministers and will be presided over the His Excellency President Adama Barrow.
The ceremony is meant to give the most tax compliance companies awards as a sign of motivation and appreciation in its quest to pay regular taxes to the states. The Awards have different category, and invitees are urge to be at the conference hall on time before the arrival of the President and his entourage cabinet ministers.
The Award ceremony practice is very important as it acknowledges the contribution of the business community in mobilization of revenues required for development. (Rwanda for 16 years, Kenya, Tanzania all have taxpayers day).
As part of the global and corporate best practice, GRA has introduced this important culture to annually recognize, celebrate and reward the efforts of our loyal and compliance taxpayers’ contributions to the economy.
This day is ideally placed at the beginning of the financial year of the government in order to appreciate our distinguished Taxpayers who are working very hard to liberate our country from external resource dependency. Therefore, Mobilization of domestic resources is crucial for the funding of our own budget, our own priorities, to spur our own economic growth and development.
