Red Scorpions extends lead at top, GAF collects first win in Women’s League

Red Scorpions has extended their lead at the top of the GFF Women’s League while the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) collected their first win in the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) week-three Women’s Division League played over the weekend.

The Jeshwang-based team Red Scorpions extended their position at the top of the table after defeating the defending champions Gambia Police Force (GPF) in a game played at Basori on Sunday.

Red Scorpions scored their goals through Ola Buwaro first half strike in the 8 minute, before Kumba Kuyateh’s half volley in the 54 minute of the second half seals the victory for the reds.

Red Scorpions who won all their three consecutive fixtures sit at the top of the standings with 9 points, while the defending champions Gambia Police Force (GPF) dropped to 3rd position with 4 points leveling with their fellow security side Gambia Armed Forces (GAF).

Elsewhere, the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) have collected their first win of the season after defeating Abuko United 1-0 in the late encounter played on Friday.

Jarra S.B. Jammeh scored the goal in the game for the soldiers in the 15th minute of the game.

This is the first win registered by GAF, while Abuko United conceded to their first defeat of the season.

Gambia Armed Forces side occupied 4th position with 4 points, leveling with Gambia Police Force, while Abuko United dropped to 6 position with 2 points leveling with Immigration.

City Girls drew goalless with Berewuleng in the weekend opening game played at Basori on Friday.

City Girls who are yet to collect any victory in the league so far have collected their third draw of the league, while Berewuleng collected their second win after registering one win.

The result moved the Brikama-based team Berewuleng to 2nd position with 5 points, while City Girls occupy 5th position with 3 points after three games.

Struggling side Brikama United collected their first draw of the league after forcing Immigration to a goalless draw in the earlier encounter played on Sunday.

Brikama United who lost two of their opening league games has now collected their first draw of the league, while Immigration side registered their second draw after losing their one game.

The result left both teams at the rock-bottom-positions with Immigration sitting 7th position with 2 points, one point ahead of Brikama United who side 8th position with 1 points after three games.
