The officers of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia have arrested A teen boy along with a 27-year-old man with suspected bundles of drugs.
The duos arrest comes as the Drug Law Enforcement Agency vowed to continue clampdown on illegal drug trade and use in the country after they arrested dozens of people with suspected drugs across the country.
Drug law enforcement officers said arrested people are currently detained pending their prosecution before a court of law. However, the issue of the minor couldn’t be further explained by the officers.
“An 8-year-old (name withheld) and 27 years old Shering Mass were apprehended by DLEAG’s Bakau Field Office on the 28th January 2022 around 20:20 hours GMT onwards with twenty-two (22) bundles, fifteen (15) parcels and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa at Latrikunda German in the Kanifing Municipality,” the Drug Law Enforcement Agency said.
The Agency added: “The said suspected prohibited drugs were wrapped with white and brown papers and concealed in two separate used flour bags.”
Meanwhile, the agency continued that its Serrekunda Field Office also nabbed 19 years old Bakary Sowe for being in possession of five (5) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa and thirteen (13) pieces of suspected cannabis resin (Hashish)
“The suspected cannabis sativa was concealed in a multi-colour bag and the suspected Hashish in a used cigarette packet. He was arrested on the 28 January 2022 around 10:55 AM onwards at Lamin in the West Coast Region. All three suspects were taken into custody while Officers further probe into their matters,” the agency stated.
