Government has set up a panel to look into the last week arbitrary arrest of 3 Gambians by Senegalese soldiers under the ECOWAS Mission on the eve of a deadly shootout with MFDC rebels at The Gambia border which they hereby released Wednesday, 2nd February.

The trio, Abdou Jammeh, Modou Bojang and Bakary Bojang were released after nationwide outrage and condemnation of the arrest. They have now returned to their families as the Barrow administration launched an investigation into their arrest.

Speaking to reporters, Honorable Musa Amul Nyassi, the National Assembly member for Foni Kansala, said the government has set up a panel to look into the arrest.

“I want to let you know that thank God the three Gambians who were arrested by the Senegalese soldiers, in the person of Abdou Jammeh, Modou Bojang and Bakary Bojang have all arrived in The Gambia. But this is very sad and disheartening. It’s something until the government take step then we will know what to do. This is undone for foreign force to invade another country and arrest their citizens that’s very sad and disheartening.

“The government has set a panel that are in talks, but before that panel release its report and recommendations and what the government is going to do, we want to tell you the people of Foni to calm down and know that this is not a politic and is not about Foni, This is about The Gambia because the people who were arrested are Gambians,” he expressed.

However, he urged the people of Foni to calm down and allow the authorities to their job, adding the issue isn’t political.

“We have condemned this action to the latter and frown at it and we hope this will trigger the government to step into such and avoid its recurrence in the country,” he said.
