Red Scorpions continues winning streak, GPF found redeem in GFF Women’s League

Red Scorpions FC has continued their lead at the top of the Women’s League standing with winning streak, while the reigning champions, Gambia Police Force (GPF) has found their redeem after their slow start in the GFF Women’s 1 Division League.

Red Scorpions FC has continued their winning streak after defeating Berewuleng 4-0 in their week-5 fixtures of the Women’s Division One League played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Saturday.

Both Kumba Kuyateh and Ola Buwaro scored two goals (brace) to help Red Scorpions continue with their winning form in the league.

This is Red Scorpions four wins in four matches while Berewuleng FC has now collected their first defeat of the season.

The Jeshwang-based team, Red Scorpions collected four wins with 15 goals scored, while Berewuleng who conceded their first lose, recorded one win and three draws in five matches.

Red Scorpions continued their lead at the top of the standings on 12 points, while Berewuleng dropped to 4th position with 6 points.

Elsewhere, the defending champions, Gambia Police Force (GPF) beat Abuko United 3-1 in a game played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Friday.

Catherine Jatta opened the scoring for the Police in the 9th minute of the game. Neneh Jallow and Fatou Sonko scored both second and third goals for the Police side in the 13th and 21st minutes respectively.

Awa K. Darboe scored the only consolation goal for Abuko United in the 43 minute of the first half.

The reigning champions, Gambia Police Force who started very slowly in the league, now seem to have found their redeem after collecting their third win of the season, while Abuko United conceded their second defeat of the season.

GPF overall collected three wins, one draw and one defeat, while Abuko United conceded two defeats, two draws and one win in five games.

Gambia Police Force moved to 2nd position with 10 points, two points, while Abuko United sit 5th position with 5 points.

Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) defeated Immigration 2-1 in a game played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Saturday.

Rugie Joof and Fatou Beyai scored both goals to help the Soldiers collect their second win of the season.

Immigration FC has continued their struggle after conceding their third defeats of the season.

Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) overall collected two wins, two draws and one defeat, while Immigration FC conceded three defeats, two draws and no victory yet.

GAF moved to 3rd position with 8 points, while Immigration occupied second-from-bottom-(17th) position with 2 points.

At the time of going to press yesterday, Brikama United were playing against City Girls.

Brikama United were sitting at the rock-bottom-(8th) position with just 1 point, while City Girls occupy 6th position with 3 points.

Meanwhile, Koita FC has extended their lead at the top of the Women’s 2 Division League standing after beating Jeshwang United 1-0 in a game played at the Kiti football field on Friday.

Koita FC has now won all their four fixtures of the league, while Jeshwang United conceded their second defeats of the season.

Koita FC extended their lead at the top on 12 points, while Jeshwang United dropped to 4 position with 9 points, leveling with Future Bi, Greater Tomorrow, Prisons and Lower Nuimi respectively.

Future Bi beat Greater Tomorrow 2-0 in a game played at the Kiti Football field on Saturday.

Mariama Manneh and Kaddy Jarju scored both goals for Future Bi leaving the fans and technical side of Greater Tomorrow disappointed.

Future Bi FC collected their third victories of the season, closing the gap against Greater Tomorrow who conceded their second defeats of the season.

Future Bi leapfrogged to 2 position with 9 points leveling with Greater Tomorrow, Jeshwang United, Prisons FC and Lower Nuimi respectively.

Young Icons were defeated 2-1 by Lower Nuimi in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho field in Old Yundum on Friday.

Debutante Lower Nuimi who started the league slowly now collected their third victories of the season, while Young Icons also making their debut season in the league conceded their fourth defeats of the season.

The North Bank Region side, Lower Nuimi moved to 6 position with 9 points leveling with Future Bi, Greater Tomorrow, Jeshwang United and Prisons FC respectively, while Young Icons dropped to 8th position with 3 points after five matches.

Prisons beat Kinteh’s 1-0 in the earlier game played at the Kiti Football field on Saturday.

Prisons FC collected their third wins of the season while Kinteh’s FC conceded their first defeat of the season.

Prison FC overall collected three wins, two defeats with no draw, while Kinteh’s FC suffered one defeat, two draws and one win after four games.

Prison FC sit 5th position with 9 points leveling Future Bi, Greater Tomorrow, Jeshwang United and Lower Nuimi respectively, while Kinteh’s FC occupy 7th position with 5 points.

At the time of going to press yesterday, Raptim were taking on Foni Girls at the Kiti Football field.

Both Raptim and Foni Girls are struggling in the league and are sitting at the rock-bottom-positions in the league leveling on 1 point each after four games.
