Danish Superliga side Viborg FF has signed Gambian defender Lamin Jawara from Hawks FC- Gambian First Division side.
The 19-year-old defender penned a four-year-contract with The Greens which goes until 2026.
“We are really happy that we have finally managed to get Lamin Jawara up here on a long contract. Already this summer we agreed that we would like to see more of each other, and we happily managed to get everything in place before the transfer window closed, but it has been a long process that has been disrupted by corona and visa, and therefore joins he only now,” says sports director Jesper Fredberg on Viborg official website.
Viborg describes him as a left-footed stopper who is good with his feet and has great physical potential. They also emphasize that there will be some getting used to Danish football, but it is a player that there are high expectations for in the future.
Meanwhile, Lamin Jawara was named in the Under-20 team of the tournament in Mauritania, where he helped the Gambia win a bronze medal.
Viborg FC currently sit 8th position in the Danish Superliga with 20 points after 17 games.
