Salif Sadio frees 7 Senegalese soldiers

Salif Sadio, the rebel leader of MFDC, Monday released seven captured Senegalese soldiers which were captured in last month’s deadly clashes on The Gambia-Senegal border on humanitarian grounds.

At least two soldiers died and hundreds of residents on the border villages fled for their lives to small and big villages in Fonis and Kombos.

The mediation delegation included officials of ECOWAS, Gambia Armed Forces, Police Force and Red Cross Society. The soldiers have been transported back to The Gambia.

However, the rebels refused to hand over the gadgets including helmets, camel jackets and watches owned by the soldiers over fears of technology.
