Veteran wrestler, Sanneh of Club Ebou Town Mbolo ended his wrestling winless run after beating down Bala Star of Club Tallinding Mbolo to record his first victory in seven years on Sunday.
The event which was organized by Champion Sound Promotion was held at the Serekunda West mini-stadium.
It took little over two minutes for the Ebo Town wrestler to wrestle down his opponent from Tallinding as he made best use of his experience.
Sanneh Bu Ndungu Charen as his fondly called last victory in the Gambian Arena came in 2015 at the same venue against France of Club Banjul Saku Ham Ham.
He suffered three straight defeats, first with France in a rematch before losing to Tapha Tine of Banjul Japoo and Begui of Tallinding Mbolo respectively.
Meanwhile, on the earlier bouts (Freestyle wrestling) American of Club Terminal Mbolo loss to Boy Jola of Club Tysinger Family; Petti Lo of Club Yundum Mbolo drew against Ordinater of Club Tallinding Japoo and Kartus of Club Feke Ma Si Boleh needed just 39 seconds to defeat Bebe Confiyans of Club Tallinding United.
Elsewhere in the wrestling with boxing (boureh dorr): Galiyon of Club Jeff Jel continued his impressive run with a victory over Cash Power of Club Mara; Presi of Club Barra beat Escuterr of Club Bakau Gom Sa Bopa while Lichen of Club Ndongo Ceesay extended his own winning run with an easy victory over Big Show of Club Sanchaba Ham Sa Chossan before Sanneh’s victory over Bala Star capped the eventful night.
The event was well attended by fans and wrestling enthusiasts including Marcel Mendy executive director of the National Sports Council, Serign Modou Faye President of the Gambia Wrestling Association amongst others.
