Gina Bass finishes 4th in European Indoor Championship

Gambia’s track and field queen Gina Bass finished fourth position in the 60m event at the Mondeville in France.

The Gambia’s best female sprinter, clocked 7.28 seconds as she finished behind Kayla White, Michelle-Lee Ahye and Diana Vaisman respectively.

Gina was beaten twice by the American sprinter Kayla White in both the heats and the final race.

The Tubakuta-born printer, Bass, last February won the 60m women’s sprint final in the IAAF World Athletics indoors game in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Police officer-cum-sprinter is the first Gambian athlete to book a spot at the Olympic Games in the women’s 100 metre and 200 metre events in Tokyo, Japan.

In the 100 metre race she set a new national record of 11.12 seconds

The 26-year-old sprinter currently holds national records in the 100 and 200 metres.
