Ten people have been arrested and detained for alleged possession of bundles of cannabis by the Drug Law Enforcement Officials.
DLEAG said its: “operatives in the Kanifing Municipality, West Coast Region and the Lower River Region took into custody ten (10) suspects on drug possession related charges. Five (5) people were arrested in the Kanifing Municipality, four (4) in the West Coast Region and one (1) in the Lower River Region.”
“64 years old Wuyeh Sillah and 25 years old Sisawo Jatta were apprehended by DLEAG’s Serrekunda field office on the 18 February 2022 around 06:00 hours GMT Onwards with thirty (30) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. The duo was clutched in Brikama Mansaring-Su while on-board a white Mercedes Benz (BJL 6344 K). When they were intercepted by the operatives, they tried to speed off and eventually ended up knocking a compound fence causing damage to their vehicle.
“On the 21 February 2022 around 08:30 hours GMT Onwards, one Lamin Baldeh, an adult male Gambian and a resident of Faraba Sutu was also apprehended in New Yundum by DLEAG’s Bakau field office with eleven (11) bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. 55 years old Abdoulie Jallow residing in Gunjur was also clutched on the same day with one (1) big bundle and fifty-seven (57) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in a motor bike (MC BJL 9228 A) at New Yundum as well,” the agency said.
“Abdoulie Gaye, was arrested in Fajikunda by DLEAG’s Bundung field office on the 17 February 2022 around 11:25 hours GMT onwards with sixty- eight (68) stones of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) and thirty-eight (38) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa. 20 years old Malang Sambou of Busumbala and 26 years old Assan Kebbeh of Brufut were arrested while on-board commercial vehicles heading to the Kombos from Foni. Malang Sambou was arrested at Mandinaba checkpoint with three (3) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa on the 20 February 2022 around 05:20 hours GMT onwards while on board BJL 7961 T and Assan Kebbeh, a Senegalese National was arrested at the same,” the agency continued.
