“I called a board meeting we deliberated on the issue and the directed that the admin order was issued to departments head and copied to the Deputy Governor and myself and other heads to send Abdou on an administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation,” he disclosed.
“And we wrote to Abdou (Ceesay) and he has responded. The board also directed that a committee be set up within the bank to investigate this allegation. So, the committee is chaired by a board member and certain senior directors within the bank.”
“As Governor and CEO of the bank, they have to wait for me and when I came from the official trip like I said we immediately acted. We have our processes and service rules and the investigation is going on. And we will devoid all our resources into this and make sure that the investigations are deep and thorough and whatever be the outcome, we will take the full force of the law to do the needful,” he added.
Meanwhile, Police Deputy Inspector General Abdoulie Sanyang, told reporters that they have questioned Ansumana Bah, adding that: “I cannot go into details, but when we got that flash, we have listened to the flash thoroughly and then we have confronted Ansumana Bah so that if he can identify the voice of the so-called Abdoulie Cessay (and) Ansu himself said ‘this was not Abdoulie’ there is nowhere we have Abdou’s voice in the flash.”
“They formed a foundation and during our investigation when we looked at this Jama Foundation it was not registered, what was registered was Jama Children Foundation which is different from this one. As far as we are concerned, Ansu himself said they have never registered the foundation, but it was formed,” he added.
