Gambia’s track queen, Gina Bass has finished fifth position in the 60-meter run event at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup Torun 2022 in Poland.
The 26-year-old ran season best in Poland at 7.26 second behind the Polish printer Ewa Swoboda, Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaican, Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland and Daryll Neita of Great Britain respectively.
The Polish runner, Ewa emerged first after clocking 7.03 seconds, above the American five-time Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah who clocked 7.04.
Gina Bass finished third position during the second heat behind the Jamaican runner Elaine Thompson-Herah after running 7.34 seconds.

The Tubakuta-born printer, Bass, is the first Gambian athlete to book a spot at the Olympic Games in the women’s 100 metre and 200 metre events in Tokyo, Japan.
Police officer-cum-sprinter last February won the 60m women’s sprint final in the IAAF World Athletics indoors game in Dusseldorf, Germany. In the 100 metre race she set a new national record of 11.12 seconds.
