The Kanifing Municipal Council has been urged to help cover open gutters in the municipality to save lives and deter lifelong injuries of the public.
The Voice understands that there are some gutters left open which poses risk to the public especially pedestrians like children, women and the old age.
Meanwhile, KMC residents have been calling on the council to address the open gutters issue as they fear it could lead to serious disasters if left open until the rainy season.
Foday Dember, a driver told this medium that open gutters are not safe, anyone can fall inside them unknowingly which will cause anyone that fall inside it injury.
He urged KMC to find solution to it because the unhygienic water inside can inflict people with different diseases.
“If the government can help us to cover the gutters that will be better because we cannot continue to live with this bad condition,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, in Cooperative, West Field, Ablie Jarju like other users from the area appealed to the council to cover them for health and safety purpose. Beside that “West Field is a key area in the municipality and the environment should receive good facelift to make it presentable,” he added.
Mr Jarju encouraged further that the council should put more dustbins in every corner of the municipality to maintain a healthy, non-littered and clean environment.
