Red Scorpions continues its winning formula in Women’s League

Red Scorpions FC have continued with their winning formula in the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women’s 1st Division League after defeating the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 3-0 during their week-five fixture played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Saturday.

The Queen Scorpions striker Ola Buwaro scored a brace (two goals) for her side Red Scorpions in the 11 and 44 minutes respectively, before Mariama Cham scored the third goal in the 45+1 minute of the first half to give Red Scorpions all the three points.

The Jeshwang-based team, Red Scorpions has continued from where they stopped in the league before going for the winter-break as they collected their fifth win of the season.

The female Soldiers (GAF) who started the league very inconsistently now collected their third defeats of the season.

Red Scorpions overall collected five wins in five games, while GAF collected two wins, one draw and three losses in six games.

Red Scorpions maintained their lead at the top of the Women’s Division League standings on 15 points, while Gambia Armed Forces occupied fifth position with 7 points.

City Girls FC defeated Immigration FC 1-0 in an earlier game played at the Lives Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Friday.

Ellen Gai scored the only goal from the penalty spot to give her side City Girls all the three points.

City Girls have collected their second win of the season, while struggling side, Immigration now suffered their fourth defeats of the season.

City Girls overall collected three draws, two wins and no loss yet, while Immigration earned two draws, four defeats and no win yet after six games.

City Girls moved into third position on 9 points, while Immigration sat in second-from-bottom-(8th)-position on 2 points.

At the time of going to press on Sunday, Gambia Police Force (GPF) were playing against Brikama United in the earlier game, before Berewuleng taking on Abuko United in the late encounter.
