Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) has on Thursday organised a daylong synergy for Tanker Truck Operators as part of its latest Information system.
In his opening remarks Yusupha M. Jobe, Director General of PURA stated that the new information system dubbed PURA Information System for Tanker Trucks (PISTT) is a web-based application system that will help to track the license application, inspections, and vehicle information of tanker trucks.
He added that this new information system will allow effective reporting functionality and printable barcodes that would help in the tracking details of vehicles.
He emphasized that the forum principally intends to enlighten stakeholders in the petroleum transport business sector on the newly developed PURA information system for Tanker Trucks (PISTT).
According to him, the web-based application system is designed purposely to fast-track the application processes of Tanker Trucks, inspections, testing and the production of tested reports.
“As we migrate into a new application database, it is crucial to note that the system is trustworthy, user-friendly, and it allows the application or input inspection results for speedy application process.
Importantly, PURA PISTT displays a dashboard that allows people to visualise upcoming vehicle renewals, recent vehicle scans and alerts of application,” DG Jobe told participants.
He added: “We are happy to inform you that the database is flexible, and it helps for different workflows geared towards improving the speed of the application. It is also important to note that the database captures driver’s information, details of crew members and other essential data of the tanker trucks.”
He urged all participants to take the sensitisation forum seriously, adding that the knowledge and skills learned during the forum will help them to expedite speedy processing of future applications submitted by tanker trucks operators.
For his part, Mr. Ebrima Jallow, the Managing Director of Petroleum Automotive and General Engineering Services (PAGES), told participants that the newly introduced PURA information system for tanker trucks database is fast and transparent.
Jallow encouraged petroleum transporters to be more cooperative in order to ease their work.
He also extends gratitude and appreciation to PURA for its proactive engagement of its stakeholders, especially in the petroleum sector, saying such a meeting is highly needed to provide solutions on certain issues revolving in the regulatory sector.
Hamadi Jeng, participate and representative for Painter man Transport Services Limited in another interview commended PURA for the introduction of the new information system.
He urged PURA to continuously conduct similar forums to enable them (petroleum transporters) to understand critical issues in the sector.
