A doctor has explained dangers involving in smoking and its effect in human body while urged smokers to quit inhaling and exhaling smokes which will not benefit them in life.
Speaking to The Voice Dr Demba Sabally who works at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) said: “smoking can affect one’s physical structure as a typical smoker is always skinny and dry because they don’t eat much so it tends to affect their body in all aspect. And eating good food is the only thing that can make you healthy, strong and give you a bright skin.”
“The harmful effects of cigarette is that it affects the smokers and those around them as it gives them respiratory problem plus other problems in the body without their knowledge,” he explained.
However, he said cigarette can cause the addicted person to forgo his daily survival without buy anything useful for themselves since they can stay without it.
Moreover, he said typical smokers will be affected with many diseases which include respiratory problem, teeth coloration, heart problem, cancer, and high blood pressure which can easily killed the smoker, he added.
Mr Sabally urged smokers to stop because it is not good for their health and also those around them because at the end of the day it can cause them psychological problem which they can become very problematic to the society by committing serious crime.
Meanwhile, Modou Colley a smoker confirmed that smoking has negatively affected his health saying he doesn’t eat too much and now that he is not strong like in the past and now he always feeling as if his chest is burning. This disturbs him especially at night time. “At night I cannot have enough sleep because I’m always in pain through the night,” he lamented.
According to him “I started smoking at the age of 13 joined smoking because my friends were smoking but never did I think of the danger or after effect of smoking. My mother tried her best to stop me from smoking but I always hide and smoke with my friends.
He confessed that he regretted being a smoker and why he didn’t listen to his mother then “because now I am not healthy,”
Colley added “I don’t eat good food, I don’t buy good clothes for myself because whatever I have, I spent it on cigarette I cannot stay without it, I will advise young ones not to involve themselves in it because it has no positive impact.”
