The National Assembly member for Busumbala constituency yesterday said he has already won the April parliamentary elections as he filed his nomination at the Independent Electoral Commission office, Brikama under NPPfor the upcoming NA elections due in April.
SaikoubaJarju who was dismissed by the Democratic Party in 2019 for supporting President Adama Barrow will likely face the former Presidential Affairs Minister and Secretary General MomodouSabally who is seeking to contest under the ticket of United Democratic Party and APRC breakaway JeredingSanyang.
But the lawmaker insisted that he has the absolute support of his constituency people, adding “I have 11 villages and their chairmen,alkalos and women leaders all support me.”
He said he is not bothered by his dismissal from the United Democratic Party.
“The people of Busumbala are with me, so I have no problem coming with a new tag,” referring to his dismissal from the United Democratic Party.
“This is not a physical fight,” he said, referring to his opponents for the April parliamentary elections in Busumbala constituency.
“I have 11 villages and I have all my chairmen here from all the villages and I have the approval of all the alkalos and women leaders and youths.
“I have already won this election. I am very optimistic because what matter is the people and I have the people behind me,” he told reporters.
According to him, his developments in the constituency have spoken volume and that he has many unfinished developments which “I want to accomplish.”
More so, “I have brought a lot of development projects to my community within the past five years. I have represented my people very well and this is why they are fully supporting me so I can serve them for the next five years. I have dug boreholes for many communities in my Constituency. When I was elected in 2017 my people only hoped that I could assist them, but today they have seen what I have done for them.”
