A 20-year-old commercial driver has been arrested with suspected cannabis by drug law enforcement officers of Mandinaba Field Office.
“A 20 years old Modou Jarju, a driver by occupation was clutched by DLEAG’s Madinaba Field Office with three (3) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. He onboarded a commercial vehicle with registration number WCR 7750 B heading towards Brikama from Foni,” drug law enforcement agency disclosed.
According to the agency, the incident happened on the 10th March 2022, around 16:00 hours GMT onwards at Madinaba checkpoint, noted that both suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old school going boy and unnamed, resident of Sinchu within the greater Banjul has been arrested with suspected bundles of cannabis.
“Zakaria Sanyang, 21, student and a resident of Sinchu was apprehended by DLEAG’s Banjul Field Office with twenty-eight (28) parcels, three (3) wraps and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa. The said incident happened on the 10 March 2022, around 23:00 hours GMT onwards at Sinchu,” the agency added.
Also, a 19-year-old Senegalese woman and a 20-year-old man have been detained for alleged possession of cannabis.
“19 years old Ousainou Ceesay of Kuloborri Village in Senegal and 20 years old Matar Bojang of Brufut were apprehended on the 8 March 2022 around 23:15 hours GMT with suspected prohibited drugs. The duo was onboarding a taxi with the registration number BJL 8804 T. Ousainou Ceesay who is a Senegalese was arrested with one (1) bundle of suspected cannabis sativa and Matarr Bojang who is a Gambian was clutched with three (3) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.
“At Kabakorr Janak Junction, Sulayman Bojang of Brikama Santo – Su was arrested with six big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. Ensa Sambou of Nyofelleh village was nabbed at Brikama Jalambang Garage with two (2) bug bundles of suspected cannabis sativa, one (1) stone of suspected hashish and one (1) tablet of clonazepam. 19 years old Amie Sanyang of Banjul Police Line was arrested at Mandinaba checkpoint with three bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. She onboarded a commercial vehicle with the registration number BJL 7345 R,” the agency said.
