Ms Fatou Jagne Senghore, outgoing Regional Director of Article 19, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to The Voice Newspaper in Serrekunda Sayer Jobe Avenue office.
Ms Fatou Jagne Senghore thanked The Voice Newspaper for their outstanding working relationship Article 19 over the years in the media landscape of the country.
The relationship between the two institutions stated back in 2012 with information sharing on Freedom of Expression, Access to Information and media support.
She called on the paper’s management and staff to work together and share relevant information with by giving Article 19 relevant updates.
“Article 19 will continue to assist, amplify and help The Voice. They need reliable reports because what they do is very modest and they are willing to maintain the newspaper and the employees at this particular medium,” she said.
“We are happy for the partnership with The Voice. It is good for their team to know that they need to continue to work together for the partners and the institutions they have being working with, which include some of the media houses especially when things were tough and this is what they want to continue doing for The Voice so that the good work can continue, and we will continue to work accordingly with our regional office in Dakar to further strengthen the relationship,” she said.
Receiving the outgoing Director of Article 19 to The Voice publication house, Musa S. Sheriff, Managing Editor of The Voice Newspaper disclosed that the paper benefitted trainings from Article 19 through Ms Jagne Senghore. “She helped me during bad days not even me but many people and she is not there just because she just wanted to be there,” Mr Sheriff stated and shown appreciation.
He disclosed that he was introduced to Article 19 team some years back, and the Organization has provided supports to The Voice which includes printer, computers and cash, which has enhanced the smooth running “of our work.”
Kebba Ansu Manneh, a Senior Reporter affirmed that he has also benefitted from a through the outgoing Director when she was in Dakar disclosing “I was among the eight (8) Gambian journalists in 2013 who were taken to Zinganchor, Senegal to attend a training on safety and security of journalists in West Africa considering Gambia`s situation at the time.”
