President Adama Barrow has commenced a 12-day countrywide tour to express gratitude to Gambians for re-electing him in office for a next five years term and to give back support to National Assembly members and thank Gambians for re-electing him in office.
“Today, I begin a 12-day nationwide tour to express my gratitude to the Gambian people for their trust and confidence in my re-election. “We are embarking on our national campaign again, but this time is to thank the people for voting (for) me for my second time (in office) which is a vote of confidence,” he said.
“That means the people have trust in me and I think now is very, very clear which party is the biggest party whom the Gambian people choose to rule this country for the next five years, but I cannot rule it alone.
“I have partners [and] the partners have to be the National Assembly members so that’s why I am embarking on this tour to go and support the National Assembly members and also thank the Gambian people for the trust and confidence and assure them that we will continue development that we started and we are sure we can do more than what we did during the first term,” he added.
Meanwhile, he started his campaign tour with his first meeting in Barra where he urged citizens to vote for the NPP candidate for Lower Nuimi in the upcoming National Assembly elections.
Canvassing for votes for Tamsir Cham, President Barrow took citizens through his own electoral victory in Lower Nuimi where he got more than 17,000 votes.
The president said: “I had over 17,000 votes in Lower Nuimi. I seriously defeated my dad here. So, I want you (voters) to repeat that. I am giving you Tamsir. NPP has only one candidate and that is Tamsir. There is no such thing as ‘NPP independent’, there is no ‘NPP UDP’ and there is no NPP of any other party. I want you to support Tamsir. If you are a homeowner, it makes more sense to give someone who lives in your own home a task than someone who comes from outside.”
