Africell the biggest GSM operator in The Gambia has donated 40 electronic vehicle tracking devices and fingerprint scanners as part of its contribution to support ongoing efforts to digitalise police operations.
Presenting the items to Assistant Inspector General of Police Ebrima Bah at a ceremony held at the police headquarters in Banjul, Africell Media Consultant Musa Ceesay expressed delight in Africell’s relentless endeavors to support and give back to communities as a way of fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities.
Ceesay reaffirmed the company’s strong willingness to partner with the Police in achieving its strategic goals, adding that security is everyone’s business.
He pledged that a second consignment of similar items is expected to be delivered to the police in the coming weeks.
Receiving the items on behalf of the the IGP, Assistant Inspector General of Police Administration Mr Ebrima Bah underscored the relevance of technology in modern law enforcement.
He stated that the gesture will go a long way in complimenting police efforts to digitalise fleet management in order to optimize service delivery.
AIG Bah thanked the donors and assured them of judicious use of the equipment.
