Waa Banjul FC were held to a 1-1 draw by The Gambia Ports Authority, while Marimoo defeated The Gambia Armed Forces during their week-12 fixtures of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League played across two venues on Sunday.
The Gambia Ports Authority’s (GPA) game against Waa Banjul, which was termed as a Banjul-derby was played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday.
The Ferry boys took the lead in the 21st minute before Waa Banjul came with the leveler in the 75th minute.
Waa Banjul has now collected their seventh draw of the season, while The Gambia Ports Authority collected their third draw of the league.
GPA overall collected three wins, three draws and suffered five defeats after 12 games, while Waa Banjul registered four wins, seven draws and no defeats yet after 11 matches.
The result maintained Waa Banjul to 4th position with 19 points, leveled with Brikama United and Gamtel FC respectively, while The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) occupy11th position with 12 points, leveled with Samger FC and Banjul United.
Elsewhere, Marimoo defeated The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 3-2 in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Sunday.
Lamin Sanneh opened the scoring for the Soldiers in the 14th minute, before Matarr Ceesay leveled the game for the Manjai-based team in the 45+1 minute before going for the break.
The Soldiers started the second half very impressively as they doubled their lead through Saikou Jatta’s 63rd minute strike.
Th goal by Saikou Jatta awakened the Manjai-based team in the game after scoring two goals through Ousman Manneh and Matarr Ceesay in the 67th and 89th minute respectively to give Marimoo the vital three points.
The result has given Marimoo their third win of the season, while GAF suffered their fifth defeat of the season.
The victory moved Marimoo FC to 9th position with 13 points, leveled with Steve Biko, while GAF dropped to 15th position with 11 points.
