APRC hopes for return of Jammeh

By Adama Makasuba

The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) has reiterated commitment for the home return of exile former president Yahya Jammeh through diplomatic means.

Musa Amul Nyassi, spokesman for APRC and National Assembly member for Kansala said: “we want the nation to reconcile, we want the people of the Gambia to coexist, we want The Gambia to come together and forge ahead and see what’s best for our country.

“So, in as much as that is our stand, nothing worth or ever will make us fan (go) back regardless of what have been said. We remain resolute in ensuring that we push the agenda of the former president and Gambians by extension to come together and reconcile.”

Meanwhile, he added: “Don’t accuse us of hijacking we didn’t hijack we played our cards very well. Remember before the election the APRC party had a congress and, in the congress, the congress delegate tasked the executive and they were two options and one was for APRC party to come up with a flagbearer and contest the election and option two in the event cannot hold APRC as a party should make sure that they go into alliance with a party that is capable of winning the election.”

“So, we either form the government or we are part of parties that will form the government. So, we made our analysis and we made series of national executive meetings of the APRC then we realised that it is a no-go area, we have challenges when it comes to coming up with our own flagbearer.  It cannot work,” he explained. “So, we said let’s go with our second option and going by our second option, it was not only the NPP that we were engaging,” he added.
