Gunjur Utd maintains lead, BK Milan close gap in GFF Div. Two

Gunjur United maintained their lead at the top of the standing, while B.K. Milan won to close the gap to secure 2nd position in The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Second Division League week-14 fixtures played on Thursday.

Coastal Town boys, Gunjur United maintained their lead at top of the GFF league standing after being held to a barren goalless draw by Waterside in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

Gunjur United came into the match with the hope of extending their lead at the top, while newly promoted side Waterside FC also came in search of a point to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Gunjur United overall collected seven wins, five draws and suffered one defeat after 13 games, while Waterside FC recorded three wins, four draws and suffered seven defeats after 14 matches.

The result maintained Gunjur United’s lead at the top with 26 points, while Waterside FC occupy 15th position with 12 points.

Elsewhere, Bakau Kachikally Milan (B.K. Milan) defeated Red Hawks 1-0 in a game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Thursday.

B.K. Milan has now recorded their seventh victory of the season, while Red Hawks FC suffered their seventh defeat of the league season.

The Kachikally-based team overall collected seven wins, four draws and suffered two defeats after 13 matches, while Red Hawks recorded three wins, three draws and suffered seven defeats after 13 games.

The win moved B.K. Milan to 3rd position with 25 points, leveled with second place PSV Wellingara, while Red Hawks FC dropped to the relegation zone at 16th position with 12 points, leveled with Latrikunda United.

The week-15 fixtures of the GFF Second Division League commenced yesterday, on Monday and at the time of going press yesterday, Jam City were taking on Medical at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum, while Red Hawks were also playing against Tallinding United at Basori.
