Ministry of Trade announces importation 10 containers of cooking oil

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment has announced import of ten containers of edible cooking oil by Niro Company Limited amid rising food prices.

According to Ministry of Trade, a gallon of 20 litres of the cooking oil will cost D1,925.00 (one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five dalasis).

“The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment continue to remain committed to ensure that essential commodities are accessible and affordable by the general public especially during these trying times of price hikes of essential commodities as result of Covid-19 pandemic,” the Ministry stated in a dispatched press release.

“As such the government through the ministry of trade has negotiated and signed a Bilateral Trade Agreement with the Republic of Sierra Leon in December 2021. The main objective of the agreement is to increase the supply of the essential commodities especially edible oil with a view of stabilising the prices at the domestic market.

Under this agreement Niro Company Ltd has imported 10 containers of edible cooking oil. These qualities are currently available in stock with the company in its sale points at Sukuta and Kairaba Avenue
