Honourable Ya Kumba Jaiteh parliamentary candidate for Serrekunda Constituency has vowed to abide and commit to the principle and guidelines of the Code of Conduct signed by candidates of political parties and independent.
In an interview with her, she revealed that the main objective of the Code of Conduct is to achieve peace and respect and that cannot be achieved without maintaining the peace in this country with respect to move forward in this campaign.
She said candidates should desist from slander or hate speech and focus on their campaign by selling their agenda to the electorates, which is the most important thing as far as parliamentary elections is concern.
“As a young female candidate contesting for the parliamentary seat of Serrekunda looking at my political career I have been maintaining the peace regardless of any matter and also sending my message without using any violence means,” she disclosed. Further to that, she said I am committed to the code and will make sure my team also adheres and the party I represent, United Democratic Party (UDP).”
She lamented it is all about sensitization and telling the supporters on what she has signed they are really supportive because it is for the benefit of every candidate and the whole country at large.
Meanwhile, Muhammed Ndow, parliamentary candidate for Banjul Central under the PPP thanked the initiators of this important signing ceremony saying it helps people especially the aspirants and candidates to abstain from violence that can bring chaos during the cause of elections.
“I have trust in the conduct which made me come and sign it, during my rally I always emphasis this to my supporters to behave well and desist from using abusing languages against each other,” he expressed.
