Rural Development Organisation (RDO) in partner with IMVF Tekki Fii project Thursday wrapped up two days training for 17 Ex Students of Holistic Agribusiness Solutions.
The training was meant to enhance the trainees’ capacity on various areas that will enhance transformation and income, it was held at the Holistic Agribusiness Solutions and Rural Development Organisation centre at Balingho in Upper Badibou, North Bank Region
D50,000 was presented to 17 Ex Students of Holistic Agribusiness Solutions by Rural Development Organisation and IMVF EU funded project.
Momodou Y Bah, Chief Executive Officer of Rural Development Organisation said the capacity enhancement of youths on entrepreneurship would contribute to make impact of beneficiaries.
He underscored the significant of building partnership with IMVF TEKKI FII which has resorted to distribution of startup kits distribution in the form of poultry and small ruminants.
CEO Bah noted that his Organisation and partners will continue to support youths to enable them explore their potential in poultry and small ruminants production, with ultimate aimed to be self reliant and create employment opportunity for others.
Susan Jatta, Agribusiness and Assistant Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at IMVF Tekki Fii described the partnership with Rural Development Organisation as important, noting that the training and distribution of the startup kits would help beneficiaries to intensify production and productivity.
She noted that entrepreneurship skills are fundamental as it will help them to become successful entrepreneurs.
She therefore challenged youths to be proactive and be goodwill Ambassadors for RDO and IMVF.
Kaddy Fofana, IMVF Tekki Fii Training Supervisor said entrepreneurship is the main engine in developing the private sector and economic growth, while she described it as a move to make communities vibrant, inclusive and secure thereby reducing cycle of poverty. Madam Fofana called on stakeholders to support in providing mentorship programmes, easy access to finance, connections to market and enhance educational development and opportunities.
On start up kits distribution for poultry each received 150 chicks, 8 bags of feed tools and equipment like drinkers and feeders medication. Small Ruminants included 3 ewes, 3 rams, 20bags of feeds and reparse medication to each of the beneficiaries.
Adama M Bojang a graduate of Glory Baptist International School said the two years training on integrated agriculture has contributed immensely in adoption of best agronomic practices, saying the training has impacted positively on her.
Musa Barry a beneficiary of small ruminants and resident of Santanto Bubu of Central River Region South said the training on entrepreneurship is key component for success of any business.
He said provision of six small ruminants by Rural Development Organisation and partners demonstrated their commitment to enhance well-being of Ex Students of 2018 batch.
