Omar Jammeh: Unifying and Rebranding Janjanbureh as a Tourism Hub will be My Main Priority

Omar Jammeh, newly elected National Assembly Member (NAM) for Janjanbureh Constituency has disclosed to The Voice Newspaper that his first priority as a parliamentarian will be to unite the people of Janjanbureh and rebrand the Island as a new tourism hub in the country.

Jammeh who succeeded in his second bid to the parliament after failing in 2017, as a candidate of the National Reconciliation Party (NRP), said his assumption to the seat is as a result of the unalloyed support enjoyed from the Youth of the area as well as the elderly.

“My main focus as a parliamentarian is to unite the people of Janjanbureh and work towards the development of the constituency. Our people have been divided based on their political affiliation and uniting them will be my first priority,” Omar Jammeh disclosed.

He added: “I will also want to ensure that Janjanbureh takes its rightful place as a viable tourism hub for the region. The Island can be turned into a viable tourism destination through collaboration with stakeholders.”

Jaato as fondly called said the Islanders tourism riches can be develop into a niche product that can attract scores of visitors as well as create jobs for the teeming youthful population. Adding these can be done through collaborations with the Ministry of Tourism, Gambia Tourism Board among other stakeholders.

According to him, his office will be opened to all citizens of Janjanbureh most especially his fellow contestants who are not lucky to make it into the parliament, adding that Janjanbureh will put aside party politics and work towards the development of the community for the common good.

The newly elected National Assembly Member adduced that over the coming years he will work towards youth empowerment programs and projects that can intern boost the livelihoods of young people. More so, all efforts will be done to building a multipurpose center for the youths of the area where they can learn various skills to make better living while they still stayed in the provinces.

“The win did not come as a surprise we have been working towards this victory and with the support of the youths. I’m grateful to the youths, women and elders of Janjanbureh and promise that I will work with all irrespective of any form of affiliation,” Omar Jammeh affirmed.
