Coach Abdou Njie: Pressure to win league affecting Waa Banjul FC

Abdou Njie, head coach of Waa Banjul has stated that their supporter’s idea of winning the league title this season is what is currently affecting his team (Waa Banjul).

He made these remarks following their goalless draw with Team Rhino during their week-15 fixtures played at the Stadium on Friday.

Coach Boyer, as he is fondly, who guided Waa Banjul to four wins, nine draws and two defeats after 15 games, blamed their fans for their current depleted performances. According to him, fans are pressurizing his players to winning the league this season.

“Since we started the league season very impressively, our people now started pressuring my young players to win the league title. This has now started affecting my team’s performances,” said Coach Abdou Njie.

According to him, Waa Banjul who currently sit 5th position with 21 points, will before wait and rely on counter-attackers but now, he added that they go out to expose themselves making their opponents to capitalize on their mistakes.

“We thanked God for starting the season with a good run, as we tried to collect the points earlier. We want to continue motivating the players to come back to their level during the second round.”

Yunusa Badjie, head coach of Team Rhino said drawing against Waa Banjul is a good result for them, adding that it is also good to record back-to-back clean-sheets.

“Our performance is getting better every week but nevertheless, our biggest problem now is to score goals,” he said.

According to Coach Badjie, whose Team Rhino side currently occupy 14th position with 13 points after 15 games, their main target is to maintain their position in the Gambian Premier League, adding that anything that comes aside that will be a bonus for them.

He added that they intend to use to current transfer window to sign strikers that will help the team to scoring goals

Elsewhere, Steve Biko and Banjul United played a goalless draw in the second game played on Friday, before it was halted after 64th minute due to power failure at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
