GAF coach expresses delight after collecting 3rd win of the season

Adama Jatta, head coach of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) football team has expressed delight for collecting their third victory of the season after defeating Falcons FC 3-2 in their week-16 fixture played at the Independence Stadium on Saturday.

The struggling side, GAF scored their three goals in the 35th and 70th and 80th minutes respectively to register their third win of the season.

Falcons FC scored their goals through Ousman Ceesay’s brace in the 72 and 84 minutes respectively.

“We made a slogan towards this game and for the second round of the season called ‘we must get back our three points’. This victory will help us to make better preparations for our subsequence games in the second round,” he said.

Coach Adama Jatta, whose side is sitting in the relegation zone with15 points after 16 games, expressed confidence that they can remove themselves out of their current position in the league.

“We are going to use the same players who put the team in its current position to lift ourselves out of this position,” he went on, adding that: “I have that belief that they will do that because where we are currently is not our position.”

According to him, his task as head coach of the team is to remove the team from its current position, adding that he is confident he can execute it.

“We need to improve on our defensive area. We do not want what happened to us during the first round to continue. We conceded goals in every fixture during the first round.”

Lamin Njie, head coach of Falcons FC said it was another bad day in his office after losing back-to-back fixtures in the league, noting that, they will not put their heads down. He congratulated GAF for the victory.

“Coming into the game we wanted to collect the maximum points to bounce back from our previous defeat but it is not our day today again.”

Falcons FC who lost their previous fixture against Real de Banjul now conceded their sixth defeat of the season. The early pacesetters now dropped to 7th position with 20 points after 16 games.
