The independent National Assembly members have questioned the parliament selection committee’s mode of selecting members into various committees.

Honorable Bakary K Badjie, National Assembly member for Foni Bondali, despite commending the house selection committee, he questioned their mode of selection saying members of the selection committee fitted themselves into the various international committees.

“I have made an observation that the selection committee has done a great job and they need to be commended for that. We are looking at it in this dimension that the selection committee has fitted themselves well.

“By looking at the list of international parliamentary delegation membership, I don’t know it was based on what but then they are all into these international organisations, I think something is special about that,” he queried

Honourable Salifu Jawo fixed into Pan African parliament, who is a member of the selection committee, honourable Abdoulie Ceesay also fixed into joint parliament assembly and honourable Madi MK Ceesay also into same parliament. You look at Billy G Tunkara fixed into Ecowas parliament and Alhagie S Darboe fixed into the same,” he observed.

Honourable Omar Jammeh, a National Assembly member for Janjanbureh constituency, also said: “going further for committee that is for international relations, I would also think the independent candidates represented here are not well represented in those committees and I would like to observe with this august assembly to actually look into that and give due consideration as to who should actually represent in what committee.”

“I have an observation with regards to the list of membership and selection committee. First, most of those international groups are chaired by re-elected members,” Alhagie Babou Ceesay, National Assembly member for Sabach Sanjal said.
