Fulbe Africa International (FA), a youth cultural organization has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in a ceremony held in Banjul City.
The NCAC has a project that aims to reviving and sustaining the country’s cultural heritage and Fulbe Africa aims to promote and preserve Fulani Cultural Heritage in the country and beyond.
In this partnership NCAC as a parent body will provide and support the partnership through resource mobilization (funding); mechanical support and coordination where necessary; monitoring and evaluation of projects/activities; support in the development of activity concepts and implementation design.
However, Fulbe Africa Association as the implementing agency for the activities shall prepare and share its action plan and budget with the NCAC for the annual Fulbe Africa International Cultural Festival.
In consultation with the NCAC, FA will provide personnel, plan, coordinate logistics, and gather relevant information for the execution of the weaving project; develop research strategy project for authentic historical narrative of Fulbe Kingdoms and rulers and Traditional materials and artefacts that were used by Fulbe.
In consultation with the NCAC, FA will also develop strategies, provide personnel, plan, coordinate logistics, and gather relevant information in the interest of bringing back storytelling and folktale like in the old days.
In consultation with the NCAC, design an activity concept note, personnel and logistics arrangement for the Language and Roots Home Coming- Fulbe Folk Music Festival
Provide where needed, coordination and facilitation of activities relevant to the institution’s objectives and mandate.
In his remarks, Director General of NCAC, Mr. Hassoum Ceesay thanked Fulbe Africa for the collaboration over the years and for the will to work with the Council at all times.
“Immediately the Council launched the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Project, Fulbe Africa wasted no time to express interest in its execution and implementation,” he said.
He expressed his office’s readiness to continue working with Fulbe Africa in the realization of the two institutions’ common objective.
President of Fulbe Africa, Alieu Sowe expressed gratitude to NCAC for being the parent figure of Fulbe Africa since its inception.
He highlighted the Council’s continuous support to Fulbe Africa over the years as a source of inspiration and hope in the association’s strived to preserve and promote culture.
“I hoped that with the signing of this pact, FA and NCAC have renewed their commitment in working together towards the achieving their common goal,” he said.
