Bye Malleh Wadda, head coach of Real de Banjul has stated that beating Wallidan FC is something he really feels so good about since childhood.
Coach Bye Malleh Wadda was speaking in an interview with reporters after defeating Wallidan FC 1-0 during their week-17 fixture played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Friday.
Essa Jallow scored the game’s only goal for Real de Banjul after converting from the penalty spot in the second minute of additional time of their second half.
“Winning against Wallidan is a good start as it was a derby. To me it is always a pleasure to win against Wallidan,” he said. “I never supported Wallidan throughout my life, even though I played for them in the Champions League. I am always happy when they lose. So beating them is something I really feel good about because it is something from childhood.”
BMW as he is fondly called added that this is a very important win as they needed to get back to winning ways after conceding a draw and defeat, noting that they need to set out a marker as their goal is to win the league.
“We have to make adjustments after new players came in. We would want to give them opportunities and also even a change of strategy on how we play,” he said.
According to him, i is not always easy blending players of 30, adding that he is happy that they got the maximum points against Wallidan.
“The goal was set at the beginning of the season. We would work towards winning that and in order to do that, you have to win games,” he said, adding: “the idea is to win three to four games in a throb.
Meanwhile, Wallidan FC head coach Foday Bah could not be seen for an interview shortly after the game.
The victory moved Real de Banjul leveled on top with Brikama United with 32 points, while Wallidan FC dropped to 6th position with 25 points, leveled with Gamtel FC
