MC Cham Junior, the Youth President of The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has said “President Adama Barrow’s utterance whilst addressing the Banjul Muslim elders is un-presidential and the action is tantamount to dictatorship.”
He added that the president should use this opportunity to repair the heavily divided society as a result of politics and tribalism.
Meanwhile, he called for unanimous condemnation on what he described as the utterance of a threat message unleashed to Madi Jobarteh by the president of the state, Adama Barrow.
“What Madi Jobarteh did is not in any way against the laws of this country. Madi’s actions were constitutional and was exercising his rights as dictated by law which he said is meant to ensure good governance is achieve and discourage all forms of corrupt practices by the government officials, he queried.
He went on that president Barrow also called on the Media fraternity to condemn Madi Jobarteh from using their platforms, the moves of which he described as violation of press freedom from the first citizen of the state .
