Cruise Ship Crew Gambia (CSCGAMBIA) in collaboration with Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited, has launched a massive recruitment of cruise line workers in Gambia with aim to recruit more than five hundred potential Gambians to work in cruise liners in different destinations across the globe.
The mass recruitment of workers from the Gambia that kicks-off yesterday at the Coco Ocean Hotel is expected to end on Wednesday, aimed to recruit skilled workers in cookery, pastry, housekeeping, storekeepers and Stewards who shall be trained before their final deployment into cruise liners in Miami, Florida among other places in USA.
David White, Managing Partner CSCGAMBIA said the Gambia has been a reliable country that has been providing efficient and effective service provider for Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited over the years. He noted that the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in the past derailed their exercise.
He revealed that CSCGAMBIA partners, the Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited is willing to offer admission to many Gambians in the areas of Cokery, waiters, cleaners, stewards, housekeepers among others, noting that more than five hundred skilled workers are expected to be recruited during the next four days recruitment exercise.
CSCGAMBIA Managing Partners disclosed that Gambians previously recruited are doing amazing well in Singapore, Tampa Florida, Miami, New Jersey among other destinations, disclosing that many Gambians who were recruited six years back are now in key positions different cruise ships.
Andrea Chessa, Manager, Bulk and Hiring Partners Shipboard Global Talent Acquisition/APAC of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd Manila, Singapore office, disclosed that this year Royal Cruises Limited has planned to recruit 25000 workers globally. Saying as a result of this plan his organization already conducted recruitment exercises in Madagascar and South Africa with four days here in The Gambia as the last stage.
The Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited official affirmed that more than five hundred Gambians are expected to be recruited during the four days exercise, adducing that visa processes and medical certification is easily acquired in the Gambia than many countries where they operates from. He said his Company’s target is to bring all those who succeeded in their application onboard Royal Caribbean Cruise liners within 30 to 45. Gambians currently working in various cruise liners has set a good legacy that has attracted his company to choose the country as a key recruitment center, he added.
“We are very impressed about the quality of people we are bringing from the Gambia especially those admitted in the culinary areas they have been doing well. So far, we have 100 percent success rate with Gambians recruited in the culinary department of Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited,” Mr. Chessa disclosed.
He also revealed his company’s plans to steadily expanding the number of recruitments in the Gambia to 1000 people every year, while encouraging Gambians especially those with hospitality skills to apply for the live changing opportunity.
