President Adama Barrow yesterday received the Letters of Credence of Mr. Kim Ji-Joon, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Korea to The Gambia.
President Barrow welcomed Ambassador Ji-Joon to The Gambia acknowledging the long-standing bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries. He also thanked the Republic of Korea for its support to The Gambia, particularly in the areas of education and the country’s transitional Justice Programme through the United Nations.
President Barrow urged the Ambassador to explore the expansion of the relationship between the agriculture and trade sectors to help towards food security and job creation opportunities for Gambians. He expressed hope that the relationship between The Gambia and Korea will get stronger during Ambassador Ji-Joon’s tenure.
Ambassador Ji-Joon also expressed his country’s readiness to work with The Gambia to further develop the country’s agriculture sector. He said Korea and The Gambia have a lot in common and their relationship will be of mutual benefit. Ambassador Ji-Joon was accompanied to the State House by Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mamadou Tangara and the Republic of Korea’s Honorary Consul in The Gambia, Muhammed Jah of the Q-Group.
