Gambians have called on President Adama Barrow’s new cabinet to deliver up at per as they share views on their appointments.
Sulayman Manjang said his expectation is to see a cabinet that delivers, “I am also expecting the president to deliver because we did not just vote for him to be sited but we voted for people to deliver. And now the responsibility is to support them but to support them meaning holding them accountable where every one of us should participate.”
More so, “For the new ministers, they should work together, work for the country and also work towards fighting corruption. I am looking for a unify Gambia the idea of one Gambia, one people I think that is the next step that president Barrow should take. He needs to start focusing on unifying the people,” he added.
Ousman Conteh wants them to have good initiative “they should not be sitting at their offices alone let them go to the real market and know what is going on in The Gambia. But most of the ministers what they know is being in their cars to the office, from the office to home so you don’t actually interact with people to know their problems and once you don’t know someone’s problem, you cannot solve it.”
He said his area of concern is agriculture and education but specifically agriculture because the country is currently experiencing problem in agriculture with regards to price hike on food commodities, “all our products are imported.”
“We have huge lands that we can make best use of and cultivate so many things like onions potatoes, rice and so on. We have to feed ourselves so I am challenging the Agriculture Minister to step up and be very initiative,” he said.
Meanwhile Awa Badgie said President Barrow has regulated a lot of stuffs but looking at the civil servants, there is need of more regulations to be done with regards to the working system, transactions, corruptions and funds that regulate the civil servants. “If those things are well set and they are in place I am sure the rest will follow but my biggest perspective is to regulate the civil servant,” she said.
