Boy Nyang’s dominant display earns him victory over Bakh Yayi

Boy Nyang of Biri Biri wrestling Academy exhibits arguably the best performance of his career to date after defeating Bakh Yayi of Club Tysinger Family in an action-park grand combat held at the Serekunda West Mini Stadium, on Sunday 15 May, 2022.

The Banjul-based wrestler Boy Nyang was in an inspirational form as he advanced towards London Corner-based wrestler Bakh Yayi from the first whistle, wanting to finish the bout early. But the London Corner-based wrestler was calmed as he managed to keep his opponent at bay throughout the first half.

However, Boy Nyang accelerated the combat after half time and found a way out as he swiftly rounded himself at the back of Bakh Yayi, to force him to have both of his four contacts (hands and knees) on the ground at the same time, with 13:31 on the clock.

That performance from Boy Nyang sent his fans into wild jubilations, as the Biri Biri Academy wrestler went home with the flag named after Papa J Faal.

Elsewhere, Messi of Club Tallinding United earned his third victory of the season after his defeat of Siaka of Club Bakau Gom Sa Bopa in the first combat that lasted just 12 seconds; Tapha Tine of Club Barra drew with American of Terminal Mbolo; Bebe Jane of Nema Mbolo defeated Bala Gambia of Gunjur Mbolo in 37 seconds and Kartus of Club Feke Ma Si Boleh recorded his second victory of the season after beating Tei Max 2 of Bundung Nusrat to complete the Grassroots (Freestyle) wrestling bouts.

Meanwhile, in the famous wrestling with boxing locally called ‘boreh dorr’: Bebe London of Club Serekunda Gom Sa Rew earned a hard-fought victory over Bebe Biram of Club Jeff Jel; Dormi Gambia of Brikama Mbolo stunned Konia 2 of Club Bala Family to win the flag named after Haddy Njie; Eduwar Ndimleh of Club Kerr Serign Mbolo suffered a shocking lost to Modou Gadai of Club New Jeshwang Mbolo who went home with the flag named after Matar Sosseh; Gainako of Club Ndongo Ceesay dominated and overpowered Chart of Club Tanji Mbolo to go home with the flag named after Babou Njie; Nekorell of Tallinding Japoo lost the flag named after Ousman Cham to Gui Gi of Yundum Mbolo; Top 5 of Tallinding Mbolo’s winless run continue as he lost to Froncherr of Bundung Kai Bakh who won the flag named after Sheikh Mbackeh Badiame while Bala Niamina of Abuko Mbolo was declared the winner against Hoyontan of Club Ebo Town Mbolo as the latter failed to turn up for the combat.

The colorful event which was organized by Gumbo Gaye Promotion, was characterized by singing and dancing by various fans.

The event was also attended by Honorable Bakary Y Badjie, Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Marcel Mendy the Executive Director of the National Sports Council, Mr Abdoulie Bojang the Desk Officer for Wrestling, Mr Serign Modou Faye the President of the Gambia Wrestling Association amongst other high profile dignitaries.

The occasion was capped off by Boy Nyang of Biri Biri Academy’s victory over Bakh Yayi of Club Tysinger Family.
