The chairman of the GFF Events Management Committee (EMC), William Abraham has urged Gambian fans to purchase their tickets early because the Senegalese stadium in Thies has limited seats.
“The Thies stadium capacity has 8, 712 seats. This is very small compared to our stadium in Bakau. This is a big challenge for us to be able to support all our fans as we are used to putting 20, 000 people in our stadium,” said Willian Abraham during an interview.
As a result of the size of the stadium capacity in Thies, Mr. Abraham added that they are planning on doing first come, first serve basis.
“We want to start selling the tickets very early. Hopefully within one week or ten days, so that anybody that is ready to go will be able to go after acquiring their ticket.”
According to him, the Thies stadium VIP area has about 190 seats, noting that the covered pavilions altogether is about 1400 seats.
“Opposite the covered pavilion has 2, 367 seats; scoreboard and opposite scoreboard areas which are divided into four areas each have about 1150 and 1190 seats.”
He said there are going to be three categories of ticketing.
“The covered pavilion is D1000; opposite the covered pavilion is D700 and the flanks (scoreboard and its opposite) which is divided into four is D500 per seat.”
Mr. Abraham noted that despite the small size of the stadium, they don’t have a choice rather to play because they have not seen the Scorpions play for a while.
“The last time we saw The Gambia (Scorpions) playing at home was before the Afcon in Cameroon.
He finally appealed to the general public to get their tickets on time, while encouraging people to stay at home who didn’t get their tickets on time.
