Madi Kurang, leader of Youth for Change, has adjured president Barrow-led administration to work hard and address high cost of living and implement transitional undertakings.
He admitted that globally there are number of crisis, as “we are just out of the covid-19, but I see a government whose covid-19 strategy simply depends on getting donations trying to solve the problems. I don’t think that’s the way. We are having global economics effects that are happening and affects number of things, more particularly for our living standard, pricing and the cost of living are very important,” he said.
Mr Kurang said already things are unaffordable for most Gambians and now this global shake up that has happened, “the economic situation of The Gambia needs to be a priority, as government should see increase in prices, energy, transportation, housing, food as key areas of our inflation index,” that need intervention he added.
“So, I see the Barrow government taking steps to solving these problems that are so urgent and other problems that have been there on-and-on for a long-time. Like I just mentioned, the other deliverable from the transitional government that Barrow is still not accounted for by the people yet is the security reform, civil service reform, implementation of the commissions,” he pointed out some necessary areas.
“I heard the president recently talking about zero tolerance to corruption. So, I think people don’t want to see the president say I will do this, I will do that. People want to see concrete steps,” he voiced out.
