Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency sensitive investigations unit arrested seven suspected drug traffickers and dealers, The Voice can report
Bakary Jaiteh 39, Lamin Njie 37, both Gambians, Saikouba Bangura Sierra Leonean 39, nationals of Conakry Guinea and Bissau Guinean were arrested with various quantities of suspected drugs namely; cocaine, cannabis resin (hashish) and cannabis ruderalis (skunk), in Bijilo on the 15 May 2022, according to DLEAG.
In the same development at Brusubi, 40 years old Gibril Beyai a Gambian and 38 years old Ebrima Saidy also a Gambian were clutched on the 10 May 2022 around 14:30 hours GMT Onwards with one pack of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk).
38 years old Mohamed Lamin Kaba, a Conakry Guinean National was nabbed on the 15 May 2022 around 15:30 hours GMT onwards with 168 pellets of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) at Kololi,” DLEAG said in its update on arrest of drug lawbreakers.
According to DLEG, at the Giborro border crossing point, 42 years old Tony Silva, a Bissau Guinean National was arrested with four small transparent bags filled with suspected cocaine on the 13 May 2022.
DLEG added that suspected cocaine was concealed inside his underwear, revealing all seven suspects are currently detained, while operatives’ further probe into their matters.
DLEAG assured the public of its commitment and resolve to fulfill its mandate as provided for in the DCA 2003, adding they will not be distracted or frustrated by any form of clandestinely calculated smear campaign, misinformation or disinformation.
“Every genuine and sincere Gambian and non-Gambian alike residing in the country is encouraged to complement the government’s effort and partake in keeping children, youth and drugs apart. Our collective safety and security should be the responsibility of all and sundry because drugs respect no boundary of one race, income, religion or political affiliation.”
