Riders for Health donates 30 motorbikes to health ministry’s field workers

Riders for Health (RFH) a non-profitable organization in The Gambia has donated 30 motorbikes to ministry of health’s director of health services to be distributed among health field workers.

The donation seeks to make service delivery of vehicles and motorbikes run for a longer period of time at a low cost, as the organization seeks to successfully assist in addressing transport management systems of institutions to enable them run their transportation efficiently.

Speaking during the presentation Ousman Yabbo chairman board of directors said: “Riders for health has been here for some time and we are committed to ensuring that the Ministry function and also health service is on the move.”

According to him, having been with the board of directors for some time now and there was not a day that the Ministry of health and riders for Health could not function because of the challenges that come in has been amicably resolved.

“In terms of movement vehicles, we have given term vehicles to the Ministry of Health and they are right now in use from different regions.

“In taking precautions is better we pay attention  to the traffic we have so many so called drivers and you cannot imagine motorcycles and vehicles on the road, I want to caution those who are going to use this motorcycle must be very careful because riders for Health has given you all the sets to prevent you from minor injuries meanwhile he said am appealing to the users to be watchful on how you use our roads and maintain this vehicle to make that you have scheduled for vehicles for maintenance,” he added.

Dr. Mustapha Bittaye, director of health services described the donation as a good contract and added that “Riders and our partnership has become a history.”

“They have taken a big chunk of the Ministry of health burden and as director of health devices I am happy and we hope to be flexible. We assure you to put the motorcycle bikes into good use to continue serving the country and also extend our greeting to the ministry of Finance and government for always providing the resources we need,” he said.

Alhagie Sankareh, regional director western region one retaliated that we thank the board of directors’ riders for health for appending their approval for getting these motorcycles to replace the old fleets.

He said knowing the management for riders for health whatever business they are in is never utilized and appended if the board of directors did not approve it. To my colleagues who are beneficiaries I want to let them know that the strength will continue to grow.

We all know how mobility is important to public health officers and without mobility the service delivery will be easy,” he said.
