Deya United male team and Sandally United female side have both booked their place into the Kabuka Manjaku football tournament final after defeating Katarkorr United and Lamin United respectively in the semifinal games played at the Burusa Village, Kombo south in West Coast Region.
Deya United booked their place into the male final category after beating their arch rivals Katakorr United 1-0 during the semifinal played over the weekend.
Denial Mendy scored the game’s only goal for Deya United in the 50th minute of the second half after a long pass from Marcel Mendy.
It was a very tough encounter as both sides created some goal scoring chances after ending the first half goalless stalemate.
The stars of Katakorr United moved forward for an equalizer but all efforts including that of Albert Sambou in the 18 yard box proved futile.
The game ended 1-0 in favor of Deya United who eliminated Katakorr United in the semi-final of Kabuka Manjaku tournament.
In an interview with The Voice Sports, Nelson Mendy, head coach of Deya United expressed happiness for progressing into the final, while expressing confidence of winning against the defending champions, Siffoe United.
Elsewhere, Sandally United female team also progressed into the final of the Kabuka Manjako female football tournament after defeating Lamin United female side 1-0 during the semifinal encounter played over the weekend.
Meranda Mendy’s goal in the 55 minute was all but enough to send Sandally United into the final of the Kabuka Manjaku female final.
Lamin United female side tried to restore purity but Sandally’s defense line denied them every attempt.
Sandally United Female team will play against Siffoe United female team in the final, while the defending champions, Siffoe United male team will also face Deya United in the male category of the Kabuka Manjaku tournament final.
