Senior officials of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) led by Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe have concluded a four-day regional data analysis training held in Dakar, Senegal.
The training was organised by WATAF and held from 24th to 27th May 2022, coinciding with the WATAF Council members meeting which took place from 24th to 25th may 2022.
Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Director General of taxes of Senegal Mr. Dawda Samba Nyassi welcomed the participants and described the training very useful.
Meanwhile, GRA Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe said the training was designed to help the participants to gain knowledge on how to analyse and validate data management for tax administration purposes.
He said going forward people are in the era of data where businesses have a lot of data that need to be verified to confirm that they are paying the right taxes.
Among the topics that were covered was why do we need to analyse data, while participants discussed in details about data validation after receiving data from the various taxpayers, how to validate such data. Participants also have several sessions on excels where they were trained on using excel to analyse data and among other topics.
Participants were issued certificate of participation while a developed training manual also shared among participants for reference.
