The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has reinforced its operation targeting illegal drugs financial businesses in the country.
DLEAG also urged the public to remain vigilant, alert and share information of suspicious drug related activities with the Agency through their various regional command structures or by calling the Agency’s toll-free line (1213).
“The operation is also being reinforced with recent changes in investigative procedures and strategies with special focus and emphasis on targeting the illicit financial flows and proceeds of crime. The more of these major distributors and key players we get off the streets, the safer our communities become for children and youth to grow and attain their full potentials.
“Members of the public are therefore urged to remain vigilant, alert and share information of suspicious drug related activities with the Agency through our various regional command structures or calling the Agency’s toll-free line (1213). In so doing, they will be participating in keeping their communities safe, healthy and secure,” DLEAG said in a statement.
“In a similar but separate development, operatives took into custody three other suspects arrested at Brufut, Sukuta and New Yundum respectively. 18 years old Jerreh Jandi, a Gambian National and a resident of Brufut was arrested with thirty-three (33) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa at Brufut on the 25 May 2022 around 12:33 hours GMT onwards. 35 years old Buba Cham was arrested at Sukuta on the 25 May 2022 around 23:50 hours GMT onwards with twelve (12) parcels and one hundred and sixty-seven (167) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa. And also, 35 years old Alagie Bojang was arrested at New Yundum on the 26 May 2022 around 20:30 hours GMT onwards with five (5) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. All the suspects were taken into custody as operatives’ further probe into their matters,” it added.
